El Capitan Gauchos (Merced, CA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Atwater Falcons (Atwater, CA), 1-0 in a league challenge.

The Gauchos now own a 8-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Central Valley for a Central California Conference challenge on Thursday, March 31.

With the loss, Atwater falls to 1-6 on the campaign. The Falcons travel to Heritage (Brentwood, CA) to face the Patriots in a non-league challenge on Friday, March 25. The Patriots enter the challenge with a record of 0-0.
