The West Union Eagles baseball team scored 13 runs and limited the host Calhoun City Wildcats to 1 in the Eagles non-league victory on Thursday.
The Eagles (9-1) will now prepare for their match against Byers (Holly Springs, MS). The Lions come into the 1A Region 4 challenge with a 0-4 record. In their last challenge, Byers was overwhelmed by Hickory Flat (Hickory Flat, MS), 4-1, in a league challenge.
With the defeat, Calhoun City falls to 5-8 on the season. The Wildcats travel to Bruce (Bruce, MS) to battle the Trojans in a 2A Region 2 challenge on Tuesday, March 28. The Trojans come into the challenge with a record of 8-6. Bruce won 15-0 in their recent league challenge against Leflore County (Itta Bena, MS)
