Virginia High School Softball - Salem can't hold off James River

The Salem Spartans softball team (Salem, VA), was edged 2-1 in Thursday's non-league bout with the host James River Knights (Buchanan, VA)

The Knights (3-0) will now prepare for their bout against Rockbridge County (Lexington, VA). The Wildcats go into the non-league bout with a 1-3 record. In their last bout, Rockbridge County was edged by Alleghany (Covington, VA), 7-4, in a non-league bout.

The Spartans now possess a 3-3 record. They play next when they travel to Christiansburg for a River Ridge bout on Friday, March 24. Salem will confront a Blue Demons squad coming off a 1-0 non-league loss to Auburn (Riner, VA). The Blue Demons record now stands at 2-1.
