East Wilkes Cardinals (Ronda, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad run past the visiting Alleghany Trojans (Sparta, NC), 16-0 in a league challenge.

The Cardinals now own a 8-2 record. They take the field next when they host North Stokes for a Northwest 1A challenge on Tuesday, March 28. East Wilkes will battle a Vikings squad coming off a 6-3 league loss to Mount Airy (Mount Airy, NC). The Vikings record now stands at 2-8.

With the loss, Alleghany falls to 0-9 on the campaign. The Trojans host Elkin (Elkin, NC) to battle the Buckin' Elks in a Northwest 1A challenge on Tuesday, March 28. The Buckin' Elks enter the challenge with a record of 4-4. Elkin lost 7-0 in their recent league challenge against Starmount (Boonville, NC)
