Draughn Wildcats (Valdese, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Madison Patriots (Marshall, NC), 6-4 in a league challenge.

The Wildcats now own a 8-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Avery County for a Western Highlands 1A/2A challenge on Tuesday, March 28. Draughn will battle a Vikings squad coming off a 18-1 non-league loss to Elizabethton (Elizabethton, TN). The Vikings record now stands at 0-3.

With the loss, Madison falls to 6-4 on the campaign. The Patriots travel to Rosman (Rosman, NC) to battle the Tigers in a Western Highlands 1A/2A challenge on Tuesday, March 28. The Tigers enter the challenge with a record of 4-6. Rosman lost 8-0 in their recent league challenge against Mountain Heritage (Burnsville, NC)
