Independence Knights (Frisco, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Emerson Mavericks (McKinney, TX), 10-7 in a league challenge.

The Knights now own a 1-12 record. They take the field next when they host Heritage for a 5A Region II District 10 challenge on Tuesday, March 28. Independence will face a Coyotes squad coming off a 16-1 league win over Centennial (Frisco, TX). The Coyotes record now stands at 19-1.

With the loss, Emerson falls to 5-13 on the campaign. The Mavericks host Liberty (Frisco, TX) to face the Redhawks in a 5A Region II District 10 challenge on Tuesday, March 28. The Redhawks enter the challenge with a record of 6-10. Liberty won 10-5 in their recent league challenge against Lebanon Trail (Frisco, TX)
