Bassett Bengals (Bassett, VA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Patrick County Cougars (Stuart, VA), 8-1 in a league challenge.

The Bengals now own a 2-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Floyd County for a non-league challenge on Tuesday, March 29. Bassett will face a Buffaloes squad coming off a 13-12 non-league loss to Pulaski County (Dublin, VA). The Buffaloes record now stands at 0-4.

With the loss, Patrick County falls to 3-1 on the campaign. The Cougars travel to Tunstall (Dry Fork, VA) to face the Trojans in a Piedmont challenge on Tuesday, March 29. The Trojans enter the challenge with a record of 1-2.
