The Draughn Wildcats (Valdese, NC) softball routed the visiting Mitchell Mountaineers (Bakersville, NC), 17-1 in Friday's league bout.

The Wildcats (7-1) will now prepare for their bout against Madison (Marshall, NC). The Patriots go into the Western Highlands 1A/2A bout with a 3-4 record. In their last bout, Madison was routed by Rosman (Rosman, NC), 4-3, in a league bout.

The Mountaineers now possess a 1-6 record. They play next when they host Tuscola for a non-league bout on Monday, March 28. Mitchell will confront a Mountaineers squad coming off a 13-2 league win over North Henderson (Hendersonville, NC). The Mountaineers record now stands at 6-1.
