Hughes Springs Mustangs (Hughes Springs, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad run past the host Gladewater Bears (Gladewater, TX), 13-1 in a league challenge.

The Mustangs now own a 16-2 record. They take the field next when they host Sabine for a 3A Region II District 15 challenge on Tuesday, March 29. Hughes Springs will face a Cardinals squad coming off a 14-4 league win over New Diana (Diana, TX). The Cardinals record now stands at 9-10.

With the loss, Gladewater falls to 6-6 on the campaign. The Bears travel to White Oak (White Oak, TX) to face the Roughnecks in a 3A Region II District 15 challenge on Tuesday, March 29. The Roughnecks enter the challenge with a record of 15-7. White Oak won 4-0 in their recent league challenge against Ore City (Ore City, TX)
