The crowd at Friday's non-league match between the Stone Tomcats (Wiggins, MS) and the host Long Beach Bearcats (Long Beach, MS), saw Stone's softball squad nip Long Beach by a count of 5-3.

The Tomcats now sport a 6-7 record. They take the field next when they travel to Bay for a 4A Region 8 match on Monday, March 28. Stone will face a Tigers squad coming off a 11-9 non-league loss to Pearl River Central (Carriere, MS). The Tigers record now stands at 11-6.

With the loss, Long Beach falls to 1-5 on the campaign. The Bearcats travel to West Harrison (Gulfport, MS) to face the Hurricanes in a 6A Region 8 match on Tuesday, March 29. The Hurricanes enter the match with a record of 5-13. West Harrison lost 6-4 in their recent non-league match against Harrison Central (Gulfport, MS)
