In Monday's league battle, the visiting Madison Patriots soccer squad scored a close 3-0 triumph over the Avery County Vikings.

The Patriots (5-0) will now prepare for their battle against Mountain Heritage (Burnsville, NC). The Cougars come into the Western Highlands 1A/2A battle with a 1-4 record. In their last battle, Mountain Heritage nudged Mitchell (Bakersville, NC), 6-1, in a league bout.

In their next game, the Vikings battle the Owen Warhorses (Black Mountain, NC) in a Western Highlands 1A/2A bout, on Wednesday, March 27. Avery County will attempt to move on its 3-5 season record. The Warhorses go into the bout with a 3-3 record after their 3-2 league loss to NCSSM: Morganton (Morganton, NC).
