Montgomery Red Raiders (Montgomery, PA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad run past the visiting Sugar Valley Rural Phoenix (Loganton, PA), 11-1 in a league challenge.

The Red Raiders now own a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Bucktail for a Mid-Penn D4 challenge on Thursday, March 28. Montgomery will battle a Bucks squad coming off a 10-0 non-league win over Moshannon Valley (Houtzdale, PA). The Bucks record now stands at 2-0.

With the loss, Sugar Valley Rural falls to 1-1 on the campaign. The Phoenix host East Juniata (McAlisterville, PA) to battle the Tigers in a non-league challenge on Monday, April 1. The Tigers enter the challenge with a record of 1-0. East Juniata won 17-2 in their recent league challenge against Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy (Boalsburg, PA)
