Independence Wildcats (Independence, MS) fans exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Southaven Chargers (Southaven, MS), 4-3 in a non-league challenge.

The Wildcats now sport a 5-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Charleston for a non-league challenge on Monday, March 28. Independence will face a Tigers squad coming off a 16-0 non-league loss to Independence (Independence, MS). The Tigers record now stands at 0-1.

With the loss, Southaven falls to 4-10 on the campaign. The Chargers travel to Hernando (Hernando, MS) to face the Tigers in a 6A Region 2 challenge on Tuesday, March 29. The Tigers enter the challenge with a record of 14-5. Hernando won 12-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Clinton (Clinton, MS)
