Rio Rancho Rams (Rio Rancho, NM) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Volcano Vista Hawks (Albuquerque, NM), 11-10 in a non-league challenge.

The Rams now own a 10-6 record. They take the field next when they host Atrisco Heritage Academy for a 5A District 1 challenge on Tuesday, March 29. Rio Rancho will battle a Jaguars squad coming off a 9-2 non-league loss to Gallup (Gallup, NM). The Jaguars record now stands at 11-5.

With the loss, Volcano Vista falls to 12-3 on the campaign. The Hawks host Cibola (Albuquerque, NM) to battle the Cougars in a 5A District 1 challenge on Tuesday, March 29. The Cougars enter the challenge with a record of 8-5. Cibola won 24-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Capital (Santa Fe, NM)
