In Thursday's non-league game, the visiting Covington Lions baseball team scored a close 11-5 triumph over the Central Private Redhawks.
Next up, the Lions battle the Hammond Tornadoes (Hammond, LA) in a 5A District 6 outing, on Saturday, March 28. Covington will attempt to advance on its 7-15 season record. The Tornadoes come into the outing with a 6-18 record after their 10-0 league loss to Mandeville (Mandeville, LA).
The Redhawks (13-14) will now prepare for their test against St. Michael (Baton Rouge, LA). The Warriors go into the non-league test with a 9-15 record. In their last test, St. Michael nudged McKinley (Baton Rouge, LA), 16-0, in a league test.
