Smithfield Packers (Smithfield, VA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad run past the host Churchland Truckers (Portsmouth, VA), 17-6 in a league challenge.

The Packers now own a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to York for a non-league challenge on Monday, March 27.

With the loss, Churchland falls to 1-8 on the campaign. The Truckers travel to Nansemond-Suffolk Academy (Suffolk, VA) to battle the Saints in a non-league challenge on Wednesday, March 29. The Saints enter the challenge with a record of 0-0.
