Watauga Pioneers (Boone, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Hibriten Panthers (Lenoir, NC), 11-10 in a non-league challenge.

The Pioneers now own a 2-1 record. They take the field next when they host Starmount for a non-league challenge on Wednesday, April 3.

With the loss, Hibriten falls to 0-2 on the campaign. The Panthers travel to Alexander Central (Taylorsville, NC) to battle the Cougars in a non-league challenge on Thursday, March 28. The Cougars enter the challenge with a record of 7-1. Alexander Central won 5-1 in their recent non-league challenge against South Caldwell (Hudson, NC)
