Weir Red Riders (Weirton, WV) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Oak Glen Golden Bears (New Cumberland, WV), 6-2 in a league challenge.

The Red Riders now own a 5-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Indian Creek for a Ohio Valley Athletic AAAA challenge on Thursday, March 28. Weir will battle a Redskins squad coming off a 7-2 league win over Martins Ferry (Martins Ferry, OH). The Redskins record now stands at 1-1.

With the loss, Oak Glen falls to 6-2 on the campaign. The Golden bears host Wheeling Park (Wheeling, WV) to battle the Patriots in a Two Rivers challenge on Thursday, March 28. The Patriots enter the challenge with a record of 3-3. Wheeling Park won 13-5 in their recent league challenge against Brooke (Wellsburg, WV)
