The crowd at Monday's league match between the Swansboro Pirates (Swansboro, NC) and the visiting Croatan Cougars (Newport, NC), saw Swansboro's softball squad nip Croatan by a count of 7-1.

The Pirates now sport a 8-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Richlands for a Coastal 3A match on Tuesday, March 29. Swansboro will face a Wildcats squad coming off a 3-1 league loss to West Carteret (Morehead City, NC). The Wildcats record now stands at 5-4.

With the loss, Croatan falls to 1-3 on the campaign. The Cougars host White Oak (Jacksonville, NC) to face the Vikings in a Coastal 3A battle on Tuesday, March 29. The Vikings go into the battle with a record of 1-7. White Oak won 30-16 in their recent non-league battle against Northside - Jacksonville (Jacksonville, NC)
