The crowd at Tuesday's non-league match between the Alleghany Mountaineers (Covington, VA) and the host Riverheads Gladiators (Staunton, VA), saw Alleghany's softball squad nip Riverheads by a count of 6-4.

The Mountaineers now sport a 3-1 record. They take the field next when they host Roanoke Catholic for a non-league match on Thursday, March 30. Alleghany will face a Celtics squad coming off a 6-1 non-league loss to Patrick Henry (Roanoke, VA). The Celtics record now stands at 4-7.

With the loss, Riverheads falls to 3-1 on the campaign. The Gladiators travel to Stuarts Draft (Stuarts Draft, VA) to face the Cougars in a Shenandoah match on Tuesday, April 4. The Cougars enter the match with a record of 5-2. Stuarts Draft won 9-0 in their recent non-league match against Rockbridge County (Lexington, VA)
