The crowd at Tuesday's non-league match between the Covington Cougars (Covington, VA) and the visiting James Monroe Mavericks (Lindside, WV), saw Covington's softball squad achieve victory over James Monroe by a count of 12-1.

The Cougars now sport a 2-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Parry McCluer for a Pioneer test on Thursday, March 30. Covington will encounter a Fighting Blues team coming off a 27-1 league win over Narrows (Narrows, VA). The Fighting Blues record now stands at 1-0.

The Mavericks (1-5) will now prepare for their test against Oak Hill (Oak Hill, WV). The Red Devils come into the Coalfield AA test with a 2-2 record. In their last test, Oak Hill overcame Richwood (Richwood, WV), 9-1, in a league test.
