The Mathews Blue Devils (Mathews, VA) softball routed the visiting Northumberland Indians (Heathsville, VA), 18-5 in Tuesday's non-league bout.
The Blue Devils (3-2) will now prepare for their bout against Essex (Tappahannock, VA). The Trojans go into the non-league bout with a 6-0 record. In their last bout, Essex notched a victory over James Monroe (Fredericksburg, VA), 16-0, in a non-league bout.
The Indians now possess a 0-4 record. They play next when they travel to Lancaster for a Northern Neck bout on Friday, March 31. Northumberland will confront a Red Devils squad coming off a 21-3 non-league win over Northampton (Eastville, VA). The Red Devils record now stands at 2-3.
