The Augusta Panthers routed the visiting Newport Wildcats softball squad by a final score of 18-3 in Thursday's non-league battle.

The Panthers (1-1) will now prepare for their battle against Mason County (Maysville, KY). The Royals go into the District 39 battle with a 4-3 record. In their last battle, Mason County was routed by Bath County (Owingsville, KY), 18-1, in a non-league battle.

The Wildcats now possess a 0-6 record. They play next when they host Holmes for a non-league battle on Friday, March 29. Newport will confront a Bulldogs squad coming off a 29-15 non-league loss to Bellevue (Bellevue, KY). The Bulldogs record now stands at 0-2.
