The Taft Greyhounds (Taft, TX) baseball the visiting Mathis Pirates (Mathis, TX), 8-3 in Friday's league challenge.

The Greyhounds now own a 8-8 record. They take the field next when they travel to Aransas Pass for a 3A Region IV District 29 challenge on Tuesday, April 1. Taft will clash with a Panthers team coming off a 16-6 league loss to West Oso (Corpus Christi, TX). The Panthers record now stands at 6-9.

With the defeat, Mathis drops to 5-12 on the year. The Pirates host George West (George West, TX) to clash with the Longhorns in a 3A Region IV District 29 challenge on Tuesday, April 1. The Longhorns go into the challenge with a record of 14-14. George West lost 6-4 in their recent league challenge against Odem (Odem, TX)
