Fans at Friday's league battle between the Elkin Buckin' Elks (Elkin, NC) and the visiting South Stokes Sauras (Walnut Cove, NC), saw Elkin's soccer squad hold off South Stokes by a count of 1-0.

The Buckin' Elks (5-3) will now prepare for their battle against Mount Airy (Mount Airy, NC). The Granite Bears enter the Northwest 1A battle with a 1-4 record. In their last battle, Mount Airy was edged by Surry Central (Dobson, NC), 3-0, in a non-league battle.

Next up, the Sauras battle the North Stokes Vikings (Danbury, NC) in a Northwest 1A battle, on Tuesday, April 1. South Stokes will attempt to upgrade on its 4-3 season record. The Vikings enter the battle with a 4-1 record after their 2-1 league win over East Wilkes (Ronda, NC).
