The Alexander Central Cougars the host Hibriten Panthers softball squad by a count of 4-1 in Friday's league challenge.
Next, the Cougars meet the Freedom Patriots (Morganton, NC) in a Northwestern 3A/4A challenge, on Tuesday, April 1. Alexander Central will attempt to upgrade on its 12-1 season record. The Patriots enter the challenge with a 5-9 record after their 14-11 league loss to Watauga (Boone, NC).
The Panthers (10-3) will now prepare for their challenge against South Caldwell (Hudson, NC). The Spartans enter the Northwestern 3A/4A challenge with a 13-1 record. In their last challenge, South Caldwell edged Ashe County (West Jefferson, NC), 11-1, in a league challenge.
