Game Summary
It took four hours, but in a wild Region 15 opener marked by three separate lightning stoppages (and a 4th that ended the game with the tying run on second base in the top of the 6th inning), the Judge Memorial Bulldogs defeated the ALA Eagles 6-5 on Tuesday. ALA scored first on a Daysun Cuthill home run in the top of the first. After the first lightning delay, Judge answered in the bottom half with 2-out RBI hits from Sam Oswald and Rocco Martinez. With the help of a handful of fielding miscues, ALA scored 3 in the second to seize a 4-2 lead. Judge starter Kyler Nilson helped his own cause in the 3rd, launching a 3-run home run to put the Bulldogs ahead for good. After the second lightning delay, Judge added an insurance run in the 5th, and freshman Dom Fassio recorded the last four outs for his first save before a final lightning strike ended things just before sunset. Austin Smalley took the loss, allowing 6 runs in 5 innings of work for the Eagles.
