Carterville Lions (Carterville, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Johnston City Indians (Johnston City, IL), 5-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Lions now own a 7-1 record. They take the field next when they host Vienna for a non-league challenge on Friday, April 1. Carterville will battle a Eagles squad coming off a 7-2 non-league loss to Massac County (Metropolis, IL). The Eagles record now stands at 4-5.

With the loss, Johnston City falls to 4-3 on the campaign. The Indians host Pope County (Golconda, IL) to battle the Pirates in a non-league challenge on Friday, April 1. The Pirates enter the challenge with a record of 2-7. Pope County lost 15-0 in their recent league challenge against Crab Orchard (Marion, IL)
