Croatan Cougars (Newport, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad achieve victory over the visiting White Oak Vikings (Jacksonville, NC), 12-2 in a league challenge.

The Cougars now own a 2-3 record. They take the field next when they host Swansboro for a Coastal 3A challenge on Friday, April 1. Croatan will face a Pirates squad coming off a 3-1 league loss to Richlands (Richlands, NC). The Pirates record now stands at 8-2.

With the loss, White Oak falls to 1-8 on the campaign. The Vikings host Dixon (Holly Ridge, NC) to face the Bulldogs in a Coastal 3A challenge on Friday, April 1. The Bulldogs enter the challenge with a record of 6-4. Dixon lost 9-7 in their recent league challenge against West Carteret (Morehead City, NC)
