The Whitney Wildcats softball team scored 5 runs and limited the visiting Elk Grove Thundering Herd to 0 in the Wildcats non-league triumph on Friday.

With the triumph, Whitney improves its record to 1-0 on the year. The Wildcats travel to Del Oro (Loomis, CA) to clash with the Golden Eagles in a Sierra Foothill League game on Tuesday, March 14. The Golden Eagles come into the game with a record of 1-0.

In their next game, the Thundering Herd clash with the Rocklin Thunder (Rocklin, CA) in a non-league game, on Saturday, March 4. Elk Grove will attempt to improve on its 0-1 season record. The Thunder come into the game with a 1-1 record after their 3-1 non-league loss to Vista del Lago (Folsom, CA).
