Southside Seahawks (Chocowinity, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad run past the visiting Hertford County Bears (Ahoskie, NC), 20-11 in a non-league challenge.

The Seahawks now own a 4-5 record. They take the field next when they host East Carteret for a Coastal Plains 1A/2A challenge on Friday, April 1. Southside will battle a Mariners squad coming off a 3-0 league win over Pamlico County (Bayboro, NC). The Mariners record now stands at 7-3.

With the loss, Hertford County falls to 0-5 on the campaign. The Bears host First Flight (Kill Devil Hills, NC) to battle the Nighthawks in a Northeastern Coastal 2A/3A challenge on Tuesday, April 5. The Nighthawks enter the challenge with a record of 2-4.
