San Marcos Royals (Santa Barbara, CA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Santa Barbara Dons (Santa Barbara, CA), 7-1 in a league challenge.

The Royals now own a 2-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to Santa Paula for a non-league challenge on Saturday, March 5. San Marcos will battle a Cardinals squad coming off a 6-0 non-league win over St. Bonaventure (Ventura, CA). The Cardinals record now stands at 2-3.

With the loss, Santa Barbara falls to 1-5 on the campaign. The Dons host Dos Pueblos (Goleta, CA) to battle the Chargers in a Channel challenge on Tuesday, March 8. The Chargers enter the challenge with a record of 6-2. Dos Pueblos lost 6-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Oak Park (Oak Park, CA)
