Marshall Mavericks (Marshall, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Huntsville Hornets (Huntsville, TX), 5-4 in a non-league challenge.

The Mavericks now own a 4-3 record. They take the field next when they host Atlanta for a non-league challenge on Saturday, March 5. Marshall will battle a Rabbits squad coming off a 11-4 non-league win over Chapel Hill (Mount Pleasant, TX). The Rabbits record now stands at 3-3.

With the loss, Huntsville falls to 11-8 on the campaign. The Hornets host Willis (Willis, TX) to battle the Wildkats in a non-league challenge on Monday, March 7. The Wildkats enter the challenge with a record of 6-11. Willis lost 9-8 in their recent non-league challenge against Shadow Creek (Pearland, TX)
