Santa Gertrudis Academy Lions (Kingsville, TX) fans were thrilled Tuesday as they observed their soccer team hold off the visiting Calallen Wildcats (Corpus Christi, TX), 1-0 in a league challenge.

Next, the Lions confront the Rockport-Fulton Pirates (Rockport, TX) in a 4A Region 4 District 29 challenge, on Friday, March 8. Santa Gertrudis Academy will attempt to better on its 3-8 season record. The Pirates enter the challenge with a 7-6 record after their 2-0 league win over Calallen (Corpus Christi, TX).

The Wildcats now have a 3-12 record. They take the field next when they host Alice for a 4A Region 4 District 29 challenge on Friday, March 8. Calallen will confront a Coyotes team coming off a 7-1 league win over King (Kingsville, TX). The Coyotes record now stands at 12-9.
