West Wilkes Blackhawks (Millers Creek, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Alexander Central Cougars (Taylorsville, NC), 8-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Blackhawks now own a 2-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Mountain Island Charter for a non-league challenge on Thursday, March 9. West Wilkes will battle a Raptor squad coming off a 15-5 non-league loss to Central Cabarrus (Concord, NC). The Raptor record now stands at 1-3.

With the loss, Alexander Central falls to 2-1 on the campaign. The Cougars travel to McDowell (Marion, NC) to battle the Titans in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, March 7. The Titans enter the challenge with a record of 2-1. McDowell won 6-5 in their recent non-league challenge against Franklin (Franklin, NC)
