Houston Hilltoppers (Houston, MS) fans exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad achieve victory over the host Vardaman Rams (Vardaman, MS), 19-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Hilltoppers now sport a 9-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Greenwood for a 4A Region 3 challenge on Friday, March 8. Houston will face a Bulldogs squad coming off a 5-1 non-league win over Leflore County (Itta Bena, MS). The Bulldogs record now stands at 3-1.

With the loss, Vardaman falls to 0-7 on the campaign. The Rams host Calhoun City (Calhoun City, MS) to face the Wildcats in a non-league challenge on Friday, March 8. The Wildcats enter the challenge with a record of 6-2. Calhoun City won 13-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Winona (Winona, MS)
