The Weslaco East Wildcats (Weslaco, TX) baseball trounced the host Mercedes Tigers (Mercedes, TX), 17-0 in Friday's league challenge.

The Wildcats now own a 6-3 record. They take the field next when they host Harlingen South for a 5A Region IV District 32 challenge on Tuesday, March 11. Weslaco East will clash with a Hawks team coming off a 12-2 non-league win over Hanna (Brownsville, TX). The Hawks record now stands at 7-3.

With the defeat, Mercedes drops to 1-6 on the year. The Tigers travel to Porter (Brownsville, TX) to clash with the Cowboys in a 5A Region IV District 32 challenge on Tuesday, March 11. The Cowboys go into the challenge with a record of 2-7. Porter lost 9-4 in their recent league challenge against Donna (Donna, TX)
