In Friday's non-league match, the host Monterey Plainsmen softball team scored a tight 6-5 win over the Lubbock Westerners.

The Plainsmen (8-6) will now prepare for their match against Tascosa (Amarillo, TX). The Rebels come into the non-league match with a 13-13 record. In their last match, Tascosa was nipped by Clarendon (Clarendon, TX), 19-1, in a non-league match.

In their next game, the Westerners battle the Amarillo Sandies (Amarillo, TX) in a non-league match, on Thursday, March 13. Lubbock will attempt to better on its 8-5 season record. The Sandies come into the match with a 12-5 record after their 6-5 league win over Caprock (Amarillo, TX).
