In Friday's non-league contest, the Providence Grove Patriots (Franklinville, NC) softball team held off the host Southwestern Randolph Cougars (Asheboro, NC), by a margin of 2-1.

With the triumph, Providence Grove moves its record to 2-0 on the year. The Patriots travel to Asheboro (Asheboro, NC) to play the Blue Comets in a non-league contest on Thursday, March 14. The Blue Comets come into the contest with a record of 0-1. Asheboro lost 20-6 in their recent non-league contest against Southwest Guilford (High Point, NC)

In their next game, the Cougars play the Montgomery Central Timberwolves (Troy, NC) in a non-league contest, on Thursday, March 21. Southwestern Randolph will attempt to move on its 0-1 season record.
