The Shelby Golden Lions baseball team scored 16 runs and limited the host Thomas Jefferson Gryphons to 5 in the Golden Lions league victory on Friday.
The Golden Lions (8-5) will now prepare for their match against Ashbrook (Gastonia, NC). The Greenwave go into the non-league match with a 5-6 record. In their last match, Ashbrook was overwhelmed by North Gaston (Dallas, NC), 11-5, in a league match.
The Gryphons (0-10) will now prepare for their match against Bessemer City (Bessemer City, NC). The Yellow Jackets go into the Southern Piedmont 1A/2A match with a 1-9 record. In their last match, Bessemer City was overwhelmed by Ashbrook (Gastonia, NC), 10-4, in a non-league match.
