Alexander Central Cougars (Taylorsville, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Hibriten Panthers (Lenoir, NC), 2-0 in a league challenge.

The Cougars now own a 13-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Freedom for a Northwestern 3A/4A challenge on Monday, April 4. Alexander Central will battle a Patriots squad coming off a 11-7 league loss to Watauga (Boone, NC). The Patriots record now stands at 2-11.

With the loss, Hibriten falls to 7-3 on the campaign. The Panthers travel to South Caldwell (Hudson, NC) to battle the Spartans in a Northwestern 3A/4A challenge on Monday, April 4. The Spartans enter the challenge with a record of 6-1. South Caldwell won 11-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Hickory (Hickory, NC)
