Richmond Raiders (Rockingham, NC) fans exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Southern Lee Cavaliers (Sanford, NC), 8-3 in a league challenge.

The Raiders now sport a 9-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Pinecrest for a Sandhills 3A/4A challenge on Tuesday, April 5. Richmond will face a Patriots squad coming off a 6-5 non-league loss to West Brunswick (Shallotte, NC). The Patriots record now stands at 4-7.

With the loss, Southern Lee falls to 2-7 on the campaign. The Cavaliers travel to Scotland (Laurinburg, NC) to face the Fighting Scots in a Sandhills 3A/4A challenge on Tuesday, April 5. The Fighting Scots enter the challenge with a record of 12-0. Scotland won 11-3 in their recent league challenge against Hoke County (Raeford, NC)
