Wakefield Wolverines (Raleigh, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Wake Forest Cougars (Wake Forest, NC), 3-1 in a league challenge.

The Wolverines now own a 9-3 record. They take the field next when they host Millbrook for a Northern Athletic 4A challenge on Tuesday, April 5. Wakefield will battle a Wildcats squad coming off a 11-1 league loss to Rolesville (Rolesville, NC). The Wildcats record now stands at 4-6.

With the loss, Wake Forest falls to 7-4 on the campaign. The Cougars travel to Heritage (Wake Forest, NC) to battle the Huskies in a Northern Athletic 4A challenge on Tuesday, April 5. The Huskies enter the challenge with a record of 7-3. Heritage won 11-1 in their recent league challenge against Knightdale (Knightdale, NC)
