The New Bedford Whalers softball team scored 16 runs and limited the visiting Barnstable Red Hawks to 0 in the Whalers non-league triumph on Monday.

With the triumph, New Bedford moves its record to 1-0 on the year. The Whalers travel to Apponequet Regional (Lakeville, MA) to play the Lakers in a non-league game on Tuesday, April 2. The Lakers come into the game with a record of 0-0.

In their next game, the Red Hawks play the Scituate Sailors (Scituate, MA) in a non-league game, on Friday, April 5. Barnstable will attempt to move on its 0-1 season record.
