Carterville Lions (Carterville, IL) fans exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad achieve victory over the host Herrin Tigers (Herrin, IL), 16-0 in a league challenge.

The Lions now sport a 12-1 record. They take the field next when they host Anna-Jonesboro for a non-league challenge on Wednesday, April 3. Carterville will face a Wildcats squad coming off a 9-2 league win over Nashville (Nashville, IL). The Wildcats record now stands at 10-2.

With the loss, Herrin falls to 6-6 on the campaign. The Tigers host Murphysboro (Murphysboro, IL) to face the Red Devils in a Southern Illinois River-to-River - Ohio challenge on Tuesday, April 2. The Red Devils enter the challenge with a record of 9-3. Murphysboro won 15-3 in their recent league challenge against Massac County (Metropolis, IL)
