Central Wildcats (Florence, AL) fans exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad achieve victory over the host Haleyville Lions (Haleyville, AL), 16-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Wildcats now sport a 13-12 record. They take the field next when they host Brooks for a 4A Area 16 challenge on Thursday, April 4. Central will face a Lions squad coming off a 16-0 league win over Deshler (Tuscumbia, AL). The Lions record now stands at 17-5.

With the loss, Haleyville falls to 9-12 on the campaign. The Lions host Curry (Jasper, AL) to face the Yellowjackets in a 4A Area 11 challenge on Thursday, April 4. The Yellowjackets enter the challenge with a record of 21-5. Curry lost 7-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Thompson (Alabaster, AL)
