Goreville Blackcats (Goreville, IL) fans exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Elverado Falcons (Elkville, IL), 10-4 in a non-league challenge.

The Blackcats now sport a 5-3 record. They take the field next when they host Vienna for a Black Diamond West challenge on Tuesday, April 2. Goreville will face a Eagles squad coming off a 10-0 non-league loss to Carterville (Carterville, IL). The Eagles record now stands at 6-5.

With the loss, Elverado falls to 6-7 on the campaign. The Falcons travel to Steeleville (Steeleville, IL) to face the Warriors in a non-league challenge on Wednesday, April 3. The Warriors enter the challenge with a record of 0-7. Steeleville lost 11-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Johnston City (Johnston City, IL)
