Fans at Tuesday's league contest between the Radnor Raptors (Radnor, PA) and the visiting Springfield Cougars (Springfield, PA), witnessed Radnor's lacrosse squad hold off Springfield by a count of 7-6.
The Raptors (1-0) will now prepare for their contest against Penncrest (Media, PA). The Lions enter the Central contest with a 1-0 record.
Next, the Cougars meet the Lower Merion Aces (Ardmore, PA) in a Central contest, on Thursday, April 3. Springfield will attempt to move on its 4-1 season record.
Game Summary
Outstanding game as usual between Radnor and Springfield. Springfield's Sn. Pat Flaherty found the back of the net first but seconds later Radnor scored one of their own to tie it at 1-1. Springfield Jr. Luke Valerio followed suit with an unbelievable goal like no other. Springfield went into Halftime with a 5-3 lead. Radnor put on a clinic in the last 2 minutes of the 3rd quarter scoring 3 back to back to back goals giving them a 6-5 lead going into the 4th. Radnor slowed the pace of the game down in 4th finding the back of the net once giving them a 2 goal lead. Springfield with a few sloppy turnovers and mistakes were able to score with just 21 seconds remaining in the game. Radnor won the ensuing face-off before turning it over to Springfield with 7 seconds left but there was not enough time on the clock for Springfield to tie it up. 7-6 Final Radnor takes the Win.
