The Herkimer Magicians got by the host Canastota Red Raiders softball squad by a count of 8-7 in Wednesday's non-league battle.

The Magicians (2-0) will now prepare for their battle against Adirondack (Boonville, NY). The Wildcats go into the Section 3 Center State I battle with a 1-3 record. In their last battle, Adirondack was edged by Sherburne-Earlville (Sherburne, NY), 7-0, in a league battle.

The Red Raiders now sport a 0-2 record. They play next when they host Oneida for a non-league battle on Thursday, April 11. Canastota will meet a Express squad coming off a 5-4 non-league win over Voorheesville (Voorheesville, NY). The Express record now stands at 2-0.
