Whitney Wildcats (Whitney, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Maypearl Panthers (Maypearl, TX), 5-3 in a league challenge.

The Wildcats now own a 7-12 record. They take the field next when they travel to Keene for a 3A Region III District 17 challenge on Friday, April 12. Whitney will battle a Chargers squad coming off a 20-0 league loss to Grandview (Grandview, TX). The Chargers record now stands at 2-15.

With the loss, Maypearl falls to 12-9 on the campaign. The Panthers host Clifton (Clifton, TX) to battle the Cubs in a 3A Region III District 17 challenge on Friday, April 12. The Cubs enter the challenge with a record of 1-8. Clifton lost 7-6 in their recent league challenge against West (West, TX)
